We were blessed once again to make connections with another wonderful person at PHF. Last night, I got an update on what Grace can do. Here it is:
Vira is really neat- she never lets her disability get in the way of what she wants to do. She was just moved from House of Peace to House of Love yesterday. She was a favorite of HOP and her and Holly ruled the roost there.
We evaluated her at 16 months and her gross motor and fine motor skills were overall within normal limits. She could walk independently, throw objects, turn pages of a book, stack blocks and stacking rings and pick up small objects. She was still drinking from a bottle, only able to say "mama", and was fed by others so she was put in therapy for speech 2x/week and play therapy for self-help skills.
Now she is able feed herself and drink from a sippy cup. She can say 20 words and put 2 words together like "I want (wo yao)."
She sounds like she is Ms. Personality over there! Everyone I've spoken with has said she is just delightful! How I long to have her in my arms! Soon, Grace, soon....
